  1. A good place to start this 40-week “gestational journey” — with our President. I had little time and so chose to write on the form. There is a field where you are asked to select a category. I wished there were an option for ALL. Because climate change really does/will affect everything we know and about which we care. I picked Environment. Another good place to start.

  2. Yes the president is a great place to start. I also picked “Environment” after considering each other category! Here is the letter I sent:

    Dear President Obama,

    I am writing to ask you to pull out all the stops on saving the climate. We have just under 9 months till the November COP talks in Paris to prepare the nation for dramatic, decisive action on climate. There are many reasons to act quickly, and I will highlight just two here:

    1. to save your daughters and mine, and the rest of the children on the planet from a very difficult future;

    2. to become a world-wide hero, and in so doing, save the legacy of your presidency.

    The world is waiting for someone to step up and steer us back on course. Who can achieve this but America? We cannot afford to wait until the next presidency — the person to do this is you, Mr. Obama. If not you, who could? I applaud your recent actions with China, and I urge you to go further, do more. We must succeed in Paris.

    Many, many thanks, Sarah Partan
