Governor Baker, We Are Against the Proposed Pipeline!

March 9th Monday Action – week 38 of our countdown to Paris — we contact Governor Baker to strengthen a petition against the proposed MA pipeline

Click the above link and Contact your Governor’s office:

Here’s a sample text, if you find it useful:

“Dear Governor Baker,

I am urgently concerned about climate change. We need you to issue an executive order banning all new fossil fuel infrastructure, including the proposed Kinder-Morgan pipeline across the Commonwealth.

The goal of 20% solar electricity generation by 2025 is not bold enough, it’s a minimum placeholder. You must push for many more green energy projects, including the completion of Cape Wind.

We look to you to lead. Thank you for doing everything in your power to stop climate change.”

Onward!
Your Pioneer Valley Community Organizing Team

P.S. Governor Baker just opened an office in Springfield with an all white male staff.
And if you want more detail on when the Department of Public Utilities will be holding a public hearing on this matter (the last three hearings have been postponed) click here

  1.        Short might count as a minority. Mr. Baker should have an office more in line with his constituency. If for no other reason that: most of us have a greater affinity, compassion and sympathy for their “own kind”  This Mondays Letter is great…How do you make a letter stand out? Note: Cradle to Grave analysis. Complete analysis of resources used will prohibit most current “Green” initiatives from being on any environmentally friendly list and many loose the carbon game before we finish fabricating. We have a long way to go. Green is a undefined term that implies that the product is an environmentally friendly renewable resource. The products they call green for the most part use a environmental resource and in the case of solar PV; so far it is very inefficient in it’s use…Use a lot of the resource for very small amount of electricity    Offshore wind on line is a large fairly steady environmental resouce available to New England around the Massachusettes Cape. Navy should be capable of doing a better Job than the chemically enlightened in Amsterdam. Holland and the Cape pre Oil used wind power extensively. So far European engineers can’t make offshore last any meaning full length of time. Upfront expense for onshore is about the same as Nuclear Power per watt. Off shore requirements of Nobel materials, Ocean floor (All sand around the cape) mounting and complex sealing systems could easily more than double the up front expense. Exotic steel or other Nobel mast will cost an order of magnitude more than painted steel and it will still need to be maintained and protected. Done right lasting forever, at least 50 years and it’s a winner. Best unbiased place for numbers is the work published on their website by the Amherst Women’s League of Voters. Mostly facts and you have to dig through a lot of information in order to understand.     Start asking about Double Duty Infrastructure ideas. Create more and add other features to the project. For example…..  What’s wrong with building very large artificial shallow reef with “onshore style windmills”. It could be configured to replace a small part of damage done to the oceans structure. Desertification of the entire coastline took place when they allowed, in the 1980’s, drag fishing inside the Two Mile limit. All the structure and habitat on the ocean floor is gone. Nothing but sand where once their was a flourishing small rock and weed forest for the infants to hide in.                                      John

  2.  Anybody interested in going to this. I’m willing to drive.  Jist of it is that Oil worth trillions will become worth Billions if that. Tulips infected with a virus were worth $100,000.00 in 1500 are now and ever since worth $1.00. Upsets the economy of the “rich” big time.
