Your optional copy-and-paste text:

Dear Congressman McGovern,

I am urgently concerned about climate change. This is the defining issue on which future generations will judge us. Therefore I urge you to be bold in fighting for real solutions to stop climate change. We look to you for your leadership.

Would you consider switching to clean energy in your own home through Mass Energy? Such high-profile leadership will inspire others to do the same. We support Mass Energy because they are local, offer MA-based renewable infrastructure and fund it, and they are a non-profit so the added differential is tax deductible.

Add spice to your message:
• Ask your Congressperson: “What are your official positions on 1) the solar cap and 2) a Fair Price On Carbon? Also, how can you effect Congress on these issues?”

“Under state law, utilities can only hook up so many solar energy projects to their systems under the so-called “net metering” cap [set at just 2% of each municipality’s total energy consumption!] which limits the amount of excess power utilities have to buy back from solar installations. In the part of the state served by National Grid, that limit may be hit today or tomorrow, which would force companies in the solar industry to rapidly readjust.”A Fair Price on Carbon Details:
At its most basic, carbon pricing addresses the climate crisis by penalizing polluters for the carbon dioxide emissions that they pour into the atmosphere. Better Future Project, 350 MA, Climate XChange, Clean Water Action, the Environmental League of Massachusetts, and others are working to pass a carbon pricing bill in Massachusetts.

•  Tell your Representatives about an alarming milestone:

“I was deeply alarmed to read this week that the global concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere – the primary driver of recent climate change – has reached 400 parts per million (ppm) for the first time in recorded history, according to data from the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii. The time for bold action is NOW.”
Wait, you want to do even more?!

If you haven’t done so already, would you consider switching to clean energy in your own home through Mass Energy? We support Mass Energy because they are local, offer MA-based renewable infrastructure (and fund it), and they are a non-profit (so the added differential is tax deductible). Details here.

Consider doing this “switch” even if you rent, or are one of the people on the vanguard who have put solar on your roof, geothermal heat and other new technologies in your home, and call MassSave every chance you get to take advantage of their conservation subsidies available to all utility customers to the tune $2000 per cycle.

Every customer who chooses renewable energy sources is helping to protect the next generation. Those are the people probably looking up at you from about waist-height these days. Thank you for taking matters into your own hands! Your help makes all the difference. Amplify your power:

Forward this email to a friend today (an tell them how good it felt to switch!!
