January 11th Action: Stop the Northeast Energy Direct Pipeline
Kinder Morgan wants to build a gas pipeline through the pristine Western Mass hills, farms, and forests.
For the sake of our children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, we’re going to stop them and build solar and wind infrastructure instead.
Learn more about the Northeast Energy Direct Pipeline (NED) from Pipeline Awarness Network for the Northeast or No Fracked Gas in Mass.
There’s many ways to protest NED. You can get out in the streets, you can tell your representative in Congress you oppose it, or you can “intervene.” You pick, or do them all.

Here is a suggestion for what you can say:
Dear Congressman McGovern,
I oppose the proposed NED pipeline as a mother/grandmother/father/etc. deeply concerned about climate change. Please do all you can do to stop the building of new gas infrastructure and instead build renewable infrastructure in Massachusetts.
The Leverett Peace Pagoda is leading a 3-day protest walk during MLK weekend along the proposed pipeline route. Many of us will be walking on Sunday morning with Mothers Out Front. We are parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles, and others who refuse to leave the next generation anything but a clean, healthy environment. Please join the walk and/or make a statement that NED cannot lead to the future we want for our children and grandchildren.
Thanks for your good work. That’s all. That is, unless you want become an intervenor!
Last week we were up against a January 6th deadline for protesting NED through FERC. Within a day, your emails and calls paid off and Senator Rosenberg got FERC to extend the deadline! So you still have time before 5pm on January 15th to “intervene.” Sounds powerful doesn’t it? Well, it is, but it’s easy to do. You’ll want to take along these detailed instructions: http://www.nofrackedgasinma.org
Now you’re really done! Grow the movement by telling one other friend or family member why you do Monday Actions.
See you next week,
