Our Attorney General Maura Healey is fighting the good fight for us. Let’s thank her and let her know we won’t sacrifice Otis State Forest with its 400-year old hemlocks and gorgeous Spectacle Pond.
Today’s Monday Action: Thank our AG for taking on Exxon* and urge her to protect us against Kinder Morgan’s land grab in violation of our state constitution’s Article 97, which protects our parks and conserved land.
Also, you and your family can be Kayaktivists or Picnictivists for Otis State Forest. See below.
Dear Attorney General Healey,
I am urgently concerned about climate change. This is the gravest threat facing us all and future generations depend on us to halt it. Therefore I oppose all new fossil fuel infrastructure and want a fair price on carbon. I want to see Massachusetts secure 100% of its energy from clean, renewable sources like solar and wind.
Thank you very much for having the courage and fortitude to take on Exxon for years of abuse and dissembling.
We must now stop any incursion into MA state lands by Kinder Morgan as well. Please do all you can to uphold Article 97 for Otis State Park. It is a travesty that the CT Expansion threatens to go forward through this jewel in our landscape. This is a blatant land grab for private gain and we need your help to protect our public parks.
Thank you for fighting for us and our environment. The children thank you.

*As early as the 1970s, ExxonMobil’s own scientists knew the burning of fossil fuels was likely to cause global temperature rise with potentially devastating consequences for our economy, health, and environment. In an effort to protect its own business model – and at tremendous cost to society – the company then spent hundreds of millions of dollars sowing doubt about climate science and blocking action to address climate change.
There will be a solidarity rally on the small beach and boat launch off Cold Spring Rd in the Otis Sate Forest. The event includes live music, speakers on the issues, kayaks and canoes, picnic tables (no grills but people can bring their own). This is a marvelous way to get people down in person to experience the beautiful slice of heaven that is Spectacle Pond, which stands as an example of all the land Kinder Morgan would yank out of permanent protection for its own profit. Co-Sponsored by Code Pink, Sugar Shack Alliance, Climate Action Now, and Pioneer Valley Mothers Out Front among others. See you there!
