Today’s Monday Action: Ask your Congressperson to sign the pledge not to take fossil fuel money.
We need ten people to ask each of our Congresspeople this week- Watch the clicker go up on the pledge! It’s pretty neat. Can we do it?
Dear Congressman McGovern,
Every opportunity I have, I vote for the strongest climate advocates because I am urgently concerned about climate change. Future generations are depending on us to transition carbon-neutral energy by 2030.
I appreciate your strong public stance against the Kinder Morgan NED pipeline, and your efforts in Congress to prevent fast-tracking of gas infrastructure projects. As you know, gas is not a bridge fuel. It is a bridge to nowhere.
Will you pledge not to take fossil fuel money? Please sign this pledge.
Thank you, in the name of future generations,
With Mothers Out Front
PLEASE NOTE: Calls are most effective, but never hesitate to cut and paste or pour your heart out in email or letters and share your solutions. Your voice gets counted in each case. Ask your friends to join you in action. Thank you for being the change you want to see.

Extra credit 1: Carbon Tax in WA- Do you have friends in Washington State? Call ’em. Help get the first carbon tax enacted in the United States this November. Call people you know in the state of Washington, and ask them to vote for the carbon tax ballot initiative I-732. Some environmental groups want to spend the money raised by the tax. That’s not a proposal that will gain bipartisan support like I-732 which is a revenue neutral tax. There are provisions in this initiative for the working poor to get a rebate and it lowers the regressive sales tax.
Tell your friends in Washington state that if they approve the carbon tax, MA and many other states will follow their lead. Their vote could lead to a national carbon fee and rebate which is one of the things we need to make fossil fuels history. Extra credit 2: Comments to MA DEP to cut emissions, fix gas leaks:
Submit comments about why the MA Department of Environmental Protection needs to cut GHG emissions fast.
On Wednesday in Boston and on Thursday in Worcester, DEP will hold hearings on setting regulations for fixing methane leaks and other updates to meet 2020 goals of the Global Warming Solutions Act. Tell them why it matters to you that they set the bar high. http://www.mass.gov/eea/agencies/massdep/air/climate/section3d-comments.html
