Monday Action for the week of 4/24/17:

Time to get out in the street!

Speak for the trees, the children of the world, and all the species we are privileged to live with on this beautiful Earth.

Today’s Monday Action is to prepare for the Climate March and let us know if you will join us on Saturday 4/29. RSVP for DCBostonSpringfield, or Greenfield
(There are seats remaining on a heavily-subsidized bus from Amherst Center and Holyoke to the People’s Climate March in DC. Amherst seats are $35 general/$15 student & low income. Holyoke seats are $30 general/$10 student & low income. Additional scholarships are available. Please help spread the word. Info here.)

Can’t march? Just respond to this email and tell us what your message would be and we’ll add it to a communal sign with all of your words!

See other local activities coming up here and below.

We were on the move this week:
Felicia giving Sec Beaton Lorax
Earth Week took Mothers Out Front to the Bridge of Flowers in Buckland/Shelburne Falls to welcome Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs Matthew Beaton. Over 50 sign carrying protestors showed up to remind him that Otis State Forest is protected and (to paraphrase a certain Springfield born author) “Unless Someone like him Cares a Whole Awful Lot, Nothing is Going to Get Better. It’s Not.” We all signed a copy of The Lorax and gave it to him after he spoke. He said he heard our message and would read the book to his children.

At the action in Buckland and at our next stop, the Amherst Sustainability Fair on Earth Day, our Lorax No Pipeline in Otis magnets were very popular. We’ll keep them on hand when we’re at events so come over and get one for yourself.

We saw many of you at the Sustainability Fair and lots of you signed a postcard to Governor Baker which we’ll hand deliver to him just before Mothers Day. Children made Climate Hero Shields, tossed corks into the gas leaks board, and listened to climate change inspired music. Check out facebook for more about the music. And here’s how the Gazette described our booth and the Climate Transformer.

Amherst Sustainability Fair mom capes
